Job description - AI Annotation Language Lead

(Remote, Full-Time)

Your Role and Responsibilities

As an AI Annotation Language Lead, you will play a critical leadership role in ensuring the linguistic quality, consistency, and effectiveness of AI data annotation deliverables. You will serve as the quality owner and language expert for your locale, overseeing project execution, guiding annotators, supporting client communication, and driving continuous improvement based on data-driven insights.

Your responsibilities include:

• Quality Oversight
  • Own the linguistic quality and consistency of annotated datasets in your locale.
  • Lead quality review cycles, audits, and targeted interventions to improve output.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality metrics across all projects.
  • Approve quality standards and provide final sign-off on linguistic content before delivery.
• Team Leadership & Support
  • Guide, mentor, and support the annotator team to ensure full adherence to linguistic and project-specific guidelines.
  • Provide actionable feedback, coaching, and training plans for continuous team development.
  • Facilitate alignment sessions to clarify ambiguous cases or complex annotations.
• Client Collaboration
  • Act as the primary linguistic point of contact for client communications within your locale.
  • Participate in client meetings to discuss linguistic approach, escalate risks, and align on project expectations.
  • Translate client feedback into internal process improvements and guideline updates.
• Data-Driven Decision Making
  • Analyze project metrics and annotation data to identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement.
  • Implement corrective actions or process adjustments based on data insights.
  • Partner with QA and PM teams to optimize throughput without compromising quality.
• Guideline Development & Optimization
  • Review, maintain, and improve annotation guidelines to ensure clarity and coverage.
  • Propose and lead updates to linguistic guidelines based on evolving project needs and real-case examples.
  • Ensure annotators are trained on updated procedures and documentation.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Project Managers, QA Managers, and other Language Leads to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Support internal onboarding of new contributors and continuous training efforts.
  • Contribute to company-wide initiatives that enhance AI training data quality and scalability.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Native speaker of Finnish/Danish/Norwegian.
• Degree in Medical, Neuroscience, Biology, Biochemistry or similar, or Linguistics, Translation, Philology, or related fields with Medical experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in annotation or linguistic QA roles, ideally with leadership exposure.
• Strong analytical skills and experience working with large linguistic datasets.
• Proficiency in using productivity tools (Word, Excel, cloud platforms).
• High attention to detail and proven ability to maintain linguistic consistency across large-scale data.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, remote environments and managing multiple deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
