Mixed Migration Assistant

Yemen - Taiz (Dhubab) & Lahj

Who are we?

The Danish Refugee Council assists refugees and internally displaced persons across the globe: we provide emergency aid, fight for their rights, and strengthen their opportunity for a brighter future. We work in conflict-affected areas, along the displacement routes, and in the countries where refugees settle. In cooperation with local communities, we strive for responsible and sustainable solutions. We work toward successful integration and - whenever possible - for the fulfillment of the wish to return home.

The Danish Refugee Council was founded in Denmark in 1956, and has since grown to become an international humanitarian organization with more than 6500 staff. Our vision is a dignified life for all displaced.

All of our efforts are based on our value compass: humanity, respect, independence and neutrality, participation, and honesty and transparency.

  • Support the application of the Protection Analytical Framework and Protection Information Management (PIM) principles in data collection, management and reporting.
  • Ensure all protection data is handled in accordance with data protection, confidentiality, informed consent, data minimization, and responsible information-sharing practices.

Field protection monitoring and referrals:
  • Conduct and support regular field protection monitoring at migrant landing, resting and transit locations in Taiz (Dhubab) and Lahj, in line with approved workplans and security guidance.
  • Facilitate FGDs, KIIs and direct observations with migrants, host communities and service providers using age-, gender- and diversity-sensitive approaches.
  • Collect and document information on migrant arrivals and onward movements, changes in routes, protection risks, priority needs, coping mechanisms, service availability and barriers to accessing services.
  • Maintain regular communication with community focal points along migration routes to support early and timely identification of emerging protection risks and locations of concern.
  • Refer protection concerns, sensitive disclosures and requests for assistance to designated DRC staff through established channels.
  • Document and communicate feedback from migrants and affected communities to support accountability, program adaptation and appropriate follow-up.

Quality assurance and capacity building:
  • Conduct routine data quality checks to review the completeness, consistency and duplication of data.
  • Provide practical support to staff and data collectors on tool use, data quality, confidentiality and safe data management.
  • Follow up with relevant staff on incomplete or inconsistent information and triangulate findings before analysis or dissemination.
